Console Repair
GTA 6 Drops November 19 — Is Your Console Ready? Why Repair Beats Replace This Year
Independent repair shop. Not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Valve, Take-Two Interactive, Circana or any other manufacturer.

After two delays, Grand Theft Auto VI is locked in for Thursday, November 19, 2026 — with a catch. GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no PC version at launch, and it will not run on a PS4 or Xbox One. The console already sitting under your TV is your only way to play on launch night.
That is why PS5 repair in Bossier City and console HDMI port repair are about to matter a lot. If your console flickers, runs loud, or is nearly out of storage, launch night is when it will let you down. Pre-load opens November 10, the game is $79.99, and the download is reported at up to 212 GB — so you have about two weeks to get ready, and fixing your console is far cheaper than replacing it this year.
The Launch-Night Killers We See at the Counter
A worn HDMI port
The picture flickers, cuts out mid-game, or the TV just says "No Signal." Inside the port, pins get bent after years of cables being swapped and consoles being moved. If the cable feels loose or only works when you hold it at an angle, the port — not your TV — is usually the problem.
An HDMI port is soldered to the board, so replacing one is board-level micro-soldering, not a plug-in part. We do that work in-house at BITS — your console is not shipped out — and a free diagnostic confirms the port is the problem before you pay for anything.

An overheating console
A launch PS5 or Xbox Series X from 2020 has five or six years of dust in its fans and heatsink, and tired thermal compound. The warning signs are a very loud fan, a console hot to the touch, and shutdowns mid-game — and GTA 6, a huge open world played for hours at a stretch, will expose all of it.
No room for the download
Pre-load needs up to 212 GB of free space, based on what has been reported. On a launch console, that can be a third or more of the usable drive — and most consoles we see are already close to full.
Check your free space this week, not on November 10, and delete what you no longer play. If you still cannot make room, bring the console in — we can help free up space or talk through storage upgrade options.
Controller drift
This one will not stop you playing, but it will annoy you all night: your character or camera moves when you are not touching the stick. Test your controller before launch, instead of discovering drift in your first hour in Vice City.

We repair PS5, PS5 Pro, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck — see our console repair page.
Repair vs. Replace: The 2026 Math
Consoles used to get cheaper as they got older. This year they did the opposite. According to Circana's US retail data, the average PlayStation console sold this year went for $597 — up 20% from last year — and the average Xbox sold for $529, up 26%. Both are all-time highs. List prices are $649.99 for a new PS5 with a disc drive and $799.99 for a new Xbox Series X — and then GTA 6 itself adds another $79.99.
Now compare repairing the console you already own:
| Option | Cost |
|---|---|
| New PlayStation 5 (disc) | $649.99 |
| New Xbox Series X | $799.99 |
| BITS console HDMI port repair | from $139.99 |
| BITS diagnostic | $0 |
Our diagnostic is free — no fix, no fee — so you find out what is actually wrong before you spend anything. If it is the HDMI port, repair starts at $139.99, roughly a fifth of the price of a new PS5. You also keep your saves, your account, and your setup. And if your console is not worth fixing, we will tell you that, too — an honest answer first, then your call.
Your 10-Minute Launch-Ready Check (Do This Tonight)
- Wiggle test. Gently move the HDMI cable where it plugs into the console. If the picture flickers or drops out, the port is worn.
- Fan test. Play your most demanding game for fifteen minutes. A fan that stays loud, or a console that shuts itself down, points to overheating.
- Storage check. Compare your free space in settings with the reported download size of up to 212 GB. Clear room now if you are short.
- Drift test. Open the controller settings and watch the sticks with your hands off them. Any movement on its own is drift.
- Update now. Run every system and controller update tonight — not on launch night.
If any check fails, bring the console in early. We will give you a time estimate after the free diagnostic, once we have seen what it actually needs.
Beat the Rush
Every repair shop in town will hear the same sentence the week of November 19: "It worked fine until GTA 6 came out." Consoles that have sat half-broken for a year will all get pushed hard on the same night.
Beat that rush by a week or two. Walk-ins are welcome at BITS PC & Wireless Repair, 1701 Old Minden Rd, Suite 22, Bossier City, LA 71111, in the Heart O' Bossier Shopping Center. Open Monday–Friday, 9 AM–6 PM, closed weekends. Call or text (318) 562-3090, or use our contact page.

FAQ
Can I play GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No — GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and no PC version has been announced for launch.
How much storage does GTA 6 need?
It is reported at up to 212 GB. Pre-load starts November 10, 2026, so check your free space early and clear room before pre-load day.
My PS5 shows no picture — is it the HDMI port?
Often, yes — especially if the cable wiggles in the port, the picture flickers when the cable moves, or the pins inside look bent. Our free diagnostic confirms the cause before you pay anything.
Is it worth repairing instead of buying new?
Usually, if the console is otherwise healthy. With a new PS5 listed at $649.99 and console HDMI port repair from $139.99, repair costs roughly a fifth as much — and the free diagnostic will tell you honestly if your console is not worth fixing.
How much does PS5 HDMI port repair cost in Bossier City and Shreveport?
Console HDMI port repair at BITS PC & Wireless Repair starts at $139.99, and the diagnostic is free — no fix, no fee. You approve the price before any work starts.
Do you fix Xbox Series X HDMI ports too?
Yes. We replace HDMI ports on PS5, PS5 Pro, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on our micro-soldering bench in Bossier City — your console is not shipped out.
How do I know if my PS5 or Xbox is overheating?
The warning signs are a very loud fan, a console hot to the touch, and shutdowns mid-game. A launch console from 2020 usually needs the dust cleaned out of its fans and heatsink and fresh thermal compound.
